Pledge & Pray for the Building Project
If you are looking for the online form to pledge, please use this link: https://forms.office.com/r/eb1buQ3wf3
Dear Friend
Thank you so much to all those who have already been in touch with Will and pledged money for the Building Project, it is very much appreciated.
We were recently delighted to share with you the good news that the URC have both approved our proposed plans for the Church building and agreed a grant of £50,000 towards the cost of the work. We are now preparing further grant applications to meet as much as we can of the estimated costs of £185,000.
Most grant-making bodies ask how much we have raised ourselves towards the project. The recent Church meeting agreed that now is therefore the time to launch an appeal to the Church and local community. The first step is to hold a Gift Day to enable Church members and friends to pledge how much they can give towards the project. We do not need your actual money until next March, but we do quickly need to get an indication of how much we can raise in order to demonstrate in our further grant applications, our own commitment to the project.
Doug Irish, our lead for the Building Project, recently shared a short presentation about the plans for the Church, the planned timetable and next steps and the need for pledges and prayer. You can see the video via the recent Church newsletter or on our website.
The current timescales are for us to go out to tender in January/February 2022, commence building work around May 2022 and complete the project by September 2022.
What are we asking for?
At this stage we do not need any money, we simply want you to tell us how much you can pledge to give to the project at a later date, probably around March 2022.
We are also interested to hear if you are willing to offer an interest free loan to the Church, to be repaid over a period. This may be helpful in case we have any shortfall on our fundraising or the actual costs of the project are higher than estimated.
How do I make my pledge?
You can either complete the form which you can download here and return it to Will Crowhurst, Church Treasurer, by 19th July 2021 or use the electronic form.
If you pay Tax in the UK, you can Gift Aid your giving. For every £10 given, if Gift Aided, the Church receives £12.50. Please indicate on the form if you can Gift Aid your giving.
What else will we be doing?
The Church and our buildings are an important part of the local community here in Linton and so we will be engaging with the wider community in other fund-raising activities.
If you have any questions please speak to Al Wood (replying to this email), Doug Irish, Ian Burns or Will Crowhurst (Church Treasurer)
