Minister Rev. Chris Kemshell

Elder Debbie MacBean

Having had previous experience in church eldership, management and overseeing a youth offending centre in Yorkshire, Chris comes into church leadership with valuable experience. He is excited and has vision to see the local church become a place of real relevance in society.

The church has a responsibility to make the Gospel known. The Good News which has been entrusted to the church is life changing and relevant, so is to be shared through preaching and how we live out our lives as believers. Jesus Christ is Himself the only way to God's heavenly Kingdom; so it is a priority for us to share the realities of Jesus.

Chris looks forward to welcoming you into the local church family. He is married to Lucy and has three children Jessica, Luke and Sophie.

Debbie and her husband, Alasdair, joined Linton Free Church in 2014 after relocating to the area for work. They received such a loving welcome and felt very much part of the Church family, particularly through joining one of the Church's house groups. Debbie loves the strong family feel at Linton Free Church and how loved the children and young people are.

Debbie and Alasdair now have three young children; Zac, Charlotte and Molly, who keep Debbie very busy alongside teaching part time at a local primary school. Debbie loves to go for family walks around the village, feed the ducks, and stop by the Linton Kitchen cafe for a tasty treat!

Debbie became an Elder in 2017 and has specific responsibilities for the Pastoral Team and the Youth, Children & Families work (alongside Al Wood).

Elder Al Wood

Elder & Church Secretary Ian Burns

Al is a family man with wife (Ang) and three very energetic boys.

He started coming to Linton Free Church in 2011 and received a very warm and loving welcome. He’d previously been going to a large church in Cambridge but felt it was important to get involved with the local church literally on his doorstep - although the church is smaller than he was used to, he says there was just as much passion and enthusiasm for the message of the gospel.

Al loves the strong community feel which welcomed his family when they arrived and has never looked back.

He works as an Operations Director in a local business and loves spending his spare time in the big outdoors riding his bike, taking photos and walking his dog 'Ted'.

Ian and his wife, Alison, started attending the Church at the end of 2017 having previously been part of a Baptist Church in central Cambridge for over 30 years and where Ian held a number of leadership roles.

Having retired in June 2017 and lived in Linton since they got married in 1986, they felt strongly that it was right to now become part of a local Church. They became members in 2019 and Ian was elected as an Elder in 2020 and then became Church Secretary in June 2022. On the Eldership, Ian currently takes specific responsibility for the Church Finances and Buildings.

When he first came to the Church, he felt made very welcome and felt a real sense of “family”in the Church. Importantly, he could see the Church was passionate to spread the message of Jesus and the gospel throughout Linton and the wider area.

Ian is a lifelong supporter of Ipswich Town, mainly from his armchair now, and as a retirement goal set about walking the English Coastal Path. Ian and Alison have two grown up children and five grandchildren who keep them very busy!

Elder Jennie Papa

Jennie joined Linton Free Church early in 2017 after clear direction by God to do so.  Before this, she had completed Bible College in Yorkshire and, although living in North Essex, was invited to join the staff and worked at the college for a few years.  Her early time in LFC was a little intermittent due to working up north, and this continued until the end of 2018.  Once this season closed, she was able to commit more time to church life.  Jennie now lives in Linton, which has allowed her to get to know church members and villagers at a deeper level, and to engage more fully with LFC activities.

Jennie’s heart is to share her knowledge of the truth contained in the Bible, to see people set free into their God-given purpose in life, and to encourage people to draw closer to God in order that they may truly know Him.

Coming into eldership, Jennie brings a background of three years studying at Bible College, a career in administration, a previous church leadership team role, and the experience that comes through everyday life.
